UGC NET Syllabus to be revised

The UGC NET Syllabus will be revised for the first time in a decade. This is countrywide exam for teacher jobs in colleges and universities in India. Now the syllabus will be revised as per official information from UGC- University Grants Commission.

The syllabus for the exam has remained the same for 10 years, it is reported that the committee will prepare and draft the syllabus and submit it for approval. Further when it is approved, a decision will be taken as when to implement it.

The CBSE conducted UGC NET exam on November 5. The exam was conducted in 91 cities at 1700 exam centres across the nation. Securing a qualifying score in the National Eligibility Test is must for those applying to be assistant professors – the first rung in college teaching — and for junior research fellows.

Certain students have claimed that the overall difficulty level is moderate.

The UGC, India’s apex education regulator, has set up committees to revise the syllabus of each of the subjects to reflect changes in what is being taught in higher education institutions across the country, according to senior officials. For now, 25 committees have been drawn up for separate subjects. NET is held for 90 subjects and officials said more committees will be set up to cover all subjects. The panels include people actively engaged in teaching and research.
