Class X Maths Re- exam Not to be Conducted

CBSE has decided against holding re-examination of Class 10 mathematics paper after conducting an evaluation of the answer sheets. Class 10 students will not have to sit for a re- exam for the CBSE math paper that was leaked before the exam. This decision has been taken in the interest of the students.

There was a “thorough analysis and evaluation of the answer sheets” (Union Education Secretary Anil Swarup tweeted) which showed no particular sign that is paper like might have affected the exam performance by the students.

The class 12 Economics paper is scheduled for April 25. The date of the Class 12 re-test was kept in mind so as to meet deadlines for college admissions. Last week, for the class 10 Math exam, Education Minister Prakash Javadekar had said it would only be held in Delhi and Haryana if the police investigation points to a “large-scale leak”.

As the CBSE was questioned, as to why the board did not call off the class 10 maths exams although they had gotten the alert about the leak. Mr Swarup said there wasn’t enough time. The sender had claimed that the math paper was leaked on WhatsApp and urged the CBSE to cancel the paper, the official said.

“The mail came at 1.29 am on March 28 (early Wednesday) but the mail was seen at 8.55 am by the CBSE chairman. The paper was sent for verification. Just because there was an alert, we couldn’t have stopped the exam,” said Mr Swarup. (Ndtv)

The decision about not holding the Class 10 exam is a relief for more than 14 lakh students.
