The Supreme Court had declared that the students who appeared in the first phase of NEET on May 1 will not be allowed to sit in the second phase (NEET 2) scheduled on July 24. Only the students who could not appear in the NEET-1 can appear in the NEET-2 as per the Apex Court’s order released on Friday.
The court also ordered that any private college, association or deemed university would not be allowed to conduct their own competitive exam for admission to MBBS and BDS courses. All the universities and colleges need to follow the NEET for MBBS and BDS admissions.

The Court said that it would decide on the fate of students who had appeared or appearing in the state entrance exams as per the state laws on May 9. The Court also agreed to wait for the Centre’s response which will hold talks with several states to resolve the issue of State entrance exams.
