The Human Resource Development Ministry has decided to bring a national level entrance test for B.Ed. in order to improve the quality of teaching in government schools.
The Ministry has also plans for certification of B.Ed. colleges, exit test for B.Ed. candidates and an introduction programme for government school teachers.
The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has been assigned the task to conduct the entrance and exit tests for B.Ed. and draft the module for introduction programme for teachers.

The introduction of entrance test will ensure that only the candidates who have an aptitude for teaching get admission to B.Ed. programme. Moreover, the exit test will ensure that all the B.Ed. graduates are well qualified and posses the required skill set for teaching.
The HRD Ministry is also working on a pilot project that will ensure that the teachers attend the school regularly. For this one tablet computer will be given to every government school through which all the teachers will mark their attendance.

Each tablet will cost around Rs.4000 to Rs.5000 which will make the cost of the project around eight to ten crore rupees. The order will be placed in March 2017.
