Karnataka Common Entrance Test 2017 registration begins: Last date February 27

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA), Bangalore invites applications for the Common Entrance Test for admission to professional courses. The Karnataka Common Entrance Test will be conducted by the KEA to determine the eligibility of candidates for admission to professional courses in Karnataka.
 
The professional courses include Medical, Dental, Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Unani, Naturopathy & Yoga, Engineering, Technology, Architecture and Farm Science courses. To get admission to any of the professional courses, candidates need to qualify the entrance test as per the choice of their courses.
 
Common Entrance Test will be conducted on May 2 and May 3, 2017, in 54 cities across Karnataka. Candidates who have passed or are appearing for Qualifying Examination within the state of Karnataka should write ‘CET-2017’ in a test centre assigned by the KEA within the district in which he or she has studied class 12th or 2nd PUC.
 
The merit list will be made on the basis of performance of applicants in the Common Entrance Test / NEET / NATA and the Qualifying Examination. The eligible candidates will be considered for allotment of seats as per the order of their rank in the merit list and the matrix of seats issued by the Government.
 

Eligibility for Karnataka CET 2017

  1. Candidate should be a citizen of India
  2. Candidates must have passed in 2nd PUC/12th Std./Equivalent Exam with English as one of the Languages and obtained a minimum of 50% of marks in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, Biology subjects
  3. Candidates who have passed the qualifying examination from Karnataka State Open University or from a university not listed in the notification at VTU website are not eligible to apply.
  4. Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination may apply for the CET 2017, but they need to pass the qualifying examination with the minimum required percentage of marks.
  5. The eligibility criteria prescribed by the Karnataka Examinations Authority in regulations and guidelines from time to time will be used to determine the eligibility.
  6. The eligibility of candidates and admissions to courses by the colleges shall be subject to approval by MCI / DCI / AICTE / COA / CCIM / Government / concerned University / Apex Bodies etc.

How to apply for Karnataka CET 2017

Candidates who want to apply for Karnataka CET 2017 can apply online on the official website of KEA kea.kar.nic.in/cet_2017.htm

The last date to apply for Karnataka CET 2017 is February 27, 2017 and the last date to pay the application fee is March 2, 2017.
 

Application fee

For General and OBC candidates: Rs 650

For SC/ST category (Karnataka candidates only): Rs 500

For candidates outside Karnataka: Rs 750

For candidates outside India: Rs 5000

 
Candidates should get the application form duly attested by the head of institution in which the candidate is studying. Candidates who have passed the qualifying examination before 2017 should get the application form attested by the principal of head of institution from where he has passed the qualifying exam or by any gazetted officer.
 
The applications not complying with the instructions given by the KEA or with unclear photograph are liable to be rejected by the KEA.
