All India Entrance Exam for Engineering put on hold

Common Entrance Engineering Test- Proposal at rest

A plan to conduct an All India Common Entrance Engineering Test on the track of NEET has been put on hold as per Chairman, All India council for Technical Education (AICTE), Anil D. Sahasrabudhe.
Earlier it was considered that All India Common Entrance Engineering Test for Engineering would be held keeping in mind the impact of NEET.
Sahasrabudhe, was of the view that, the AICTE is not considering the move at present. Therefore, there would be no all India entrance exam for Engineering for 2018-19 and in all possibility for 2019-20 as well. Addressing the state Governments and their apprehensions he said that in this way the Entrance test would not meddle with their admissions and reservation procedures.   reports The Hindu
The exam is a way to widen the chances for the students to gain admission in the top institutions.
At present the AICTE is conducting a constructive activity called the “Students induction Programme”.
“A Game Changer” – this programme is for students who enter the first year, basically to bridge the socio –economic, cultural and linguistic diversity among them.
AICTE was also considering a ‘faculty induction programme’ for new recruits, generally to sketch out teaching skills and didactic training.
50 autonomous institutions would be taken into consideration first with this new experiment.
The idea of AICTE is to be facilitator rather than be a regulator.
Alongside it intended to close down those institutions which for five consecutive academic years have failed to fill more than 30 per% of their sanctioned intake.
