The reservation bar for management seats in medical colleges has been increased in the state of Gujarat. The state government scrapped 15 per cent reservations for NRI candidates and added them to the management quota. The management quota has been increased from 10 % to 25 %. The NRI candidates will also have to clear the class 12 examination to apply for the seats in self-financed medical colleges in Gujarat.
No decision has been taken by the high court-appointed fee committee on specific fee slabs till date and no name has been given to the quota of new pool of management seats. The government of Gujarat will make a special consortium at BJ Medical College, Ahmedabad to make rules and a process of filling the management quota seats. Online admissions will commence from the second week of June.
In government and self-financed colleges of the state, 600 seats will be given in the management quota out of total 3840 medical seats. The Admission Committee for Professional and Medical Education courses (ACPMEC) will be conducting the admission to 85 per cent seats on the basis of class 12 marks and Gujarat CET scores. Sixty percent weightage will be given to the class 12 marks and forty per cent to the Gujarat CET scores.
The remaining 15 per cent seats will be allotted on the basis of NEET (National Eligibility Entrance Test) scores. In the self-financed medical colleges of the state, the ACPMEC will make admissions to 75% of seats while admissions to 25% will be made on the basis of NEET scores.
