The centre will create a new national agency to conduct all the major entrance exams in the country for admissions to institutes of higher learning. This will free up the CBSE and other bodies from the responsibility of holding exams and let them take care of the academics.
A SWAYAM (digital) program will also be launched by the government with at least 350 online courses where the students can virtually attend the programs taught the best faculty and access the high-quality teaching material. The SWAYAM (digital) program will be linked with the DTH channels dedicated to education.

Over 100 skill centres will be opened across the country from which more than 3 crore young students will learn and benefit from a skills acquisition program called SANKALP. The finance minister Arun Jaitley announced in his budget speech on Wednesday.
The minister also set aside Rs 2,200 crore for ‘Skill Strengthening for Industrial Value Enhancement’ and emphasized to energise and promote the youth of India.
He also offered an innovation fund for secondary education for gender parity and quality improvement which includes Information and Communications Technology (ICT)-enabled learning and transformation for 3,479 educationally backward blocks.
The finance minister also proposed to introduce a system for measuring the annual outcomes of learning in schools. Science education and flexibility in the curriculum will be emphasized to promote creativity and innovation in content.

The government has also offered Rs.2000 crore for skill strengthening which will enhance employability. The introduction of India International Centres across the country will provide opportunities for the youth to look for jobs outside India.
The financial aid from the government to the ministry of Skill and Development will assist the students with scholarships and prepare themselves to enter the job industry. The government aims skill one crore young people in the country under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana’.
2,300 institutions across the country will be brought under Pradhan Mantri Yuva Yojana and around 3.5 crores under the SANKALP scheme in the next four years.
The ministry has also tied up with the World Bank to provide India its share of employable youth. The ministry has earlier suffered a setback due to insufficient funds as the running institutions lack infrastructure. The Union budget 2017 has offered Rs 2766.11 crores to the Skill Development ministry.

The Ministry has received Rs 410 crore more than last year. Therefore, more scholarships will be offered to the SC/ST/OBC and disabled community students in the pre-matric and post-matric standards. The post-matric scholarships will benefit the engineering and medical aspirants significantly.
The skill development programs will help in creating employability and providing jobs. Also, a healthy budget allocation will provide more resources to help the students.
