CBSE’s new plan to improve school education revealed

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has revealed a new roadmap to improve existing infrastructures of school education in India. As a part of this new plan, the board plans to publish a manual of best practices in school that would serve as a template for enhancing overall quality.

The board has now asked all affiliated schools to share their strategies and roadmaps for attaining perfection in domains such as academics, sports, and so on. Any new strategy to bring forth uniqueness to the existing infrastructure will also be welcomed.

“In an attempt to build a culture of learning through collaboration and sharing, CBSE is taking an initiative to identify and share existing best practices in education in the schools affiliated to the board. Best practices include strategies, approaches, activities, programmes in schools that have proved to be effective. These practices should be not only exemplary in processes but produce exemplary outcomes as well,” CBSE academic director Sadhna Parashar stated in a letter to all affiliated schools.

The board claims to have already reviews existing literature to spot 21 unique domains for best practices in which schools are being asked to share their experiences and elaborate the expertise they have achieved so far. CBSE has made available two forms on its official website that schools can download and fill in.

Parashar added: “Schools are requested to identify any one of the listed areas in which it has done some exemplary work or practice. Next, they should fill the details in Proforma 1 and 2. The board shall scrutinize the entries and identify laudable practices. The board shall further collaborate with schools to gather evidence and document the chosen best practices to help create a monograph series on Best Practices.”

Apparently, the board is now focusing on collaborating closely with its member schools in order to boost the overall standard of India’s school education. The vision is simple: to ensure that with the growing number of affiliated schools across the country, no compromises have to be made on the qualitative front.
