The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is planning to prepare a new database for students – one that contains their emails IDs and mobile numbers.
According to the board, the move will help them push real-time updates on exam notifications, results and other such key information to students across the country at the push of a button. Students of all CBSE-affiliated schools including the 1100 Kendriya Vidyalayas will be covered as part of this new initiative.
The database will mainly feature info of students of Class X and XII. Following this decision by the board, the authorities of KV Sangathan had asked for all corresponding data of students – right from Class I to XII across the country.
Meanwhile, KVS Zonal Offices, including the ones like KV Regional Office (RO) Varanasi, has sought student-data from schools under their control. The move was taken following an instruction from the Human Resource and Development (HRD) ministry.
The information requested by theHRD ministry includes name of the students, their address (district, block and municipal area), email ID and mobile number.
“This data is useful in number of ways like opening the channel of direct interaction with students pursuing studies in any KV of the country. Now, that the e-mail and mobile number of students are with us, who knows if the commissioner or any deputy commissioner can randomly interact directly with these students and get first hand information,” said PV Sai Ranga Rao, deputy commissioner, KVRO, Varanasi.
