The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) recently announced the dates for the fourth edition of the SGAI, or Students’ Global Aptitude Index. The assessment which was previously expected to be held in January next year, has now been advanced to November 16, 2013.
CBSE reveals SGAI dates. CBSE happens to be the first school board in India to have introduced an aptitude assessment mechanism throughout the country. Designed to be a paper-pencil test by a team of experts, SGAI is built exclusively to suit the students of India. It was developed with the key consideration that each individual is unique in terms of motivation, interest and aptitude.
The core objective of SGAI is to kick start a dialogue amongst all stakeholders on the decision making procedure of academic choices in addition to empowering students to make their own choices instead of following their parents’ wishes, peer pressure or other external factors, TOI reports.
CBSE claims that the ultimate goal of SGAI is to sensitize teachers, parents as well as students on strategic career planning. In a bid to execute that vision, the board will be arranging SGAI orientations programmes for schools at multiple locations.
It is worth mentioning here that the past three years have witnessed approximately 400,000 students from around 6000 schools across the country opting for CBSE-SGAI.
