The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) says it is going to grant one more chance to schools for providing the details of all candidates who want to boost performance in the Problem Solving Assessment (PSA) for class X and XII.
This essentially means that the details of any candidate, if not provided previously, can be submitted online before Nov 15, 2013.
CBSE grants another chance to schools for improving PSA. The board made this decision after noting that during the submission of online list of candidates for Std X and XII, a lot of schools forgot to fetch the complete details of candidates willing to boost performance in PSA for X and XII.
The core objective of PSA is to assess students’ abilities to analyze life-like situations as well as to understand and interpret written text and other crucial thinking skills of higher order. The decision to introduce the PSA to accomplish the said objectives was taken on Jan 18, 2004. The first PSA was conducted for only the students of Std IX and XI.
Students will get the chance to enhance their PSA score in Std X since they have the option to sit for the test with Std IX students of the session 2013-14 in January-February next year. The top scores will be highlighted in the final certificate.
Expressing her views on this decision taken by the CBSE, Mona Singh, principal of Guru Nanak Public School, Sarabha Nagar, said in a statement to the Hindustan Times
“We already have names of students who are interested in improving their performance in PSA so we will soon send the details of the interested candidates online. Moreover, for students’ practice for PSA, we are holding mock tests for them on October 29.”
Meanwhile, Paramjit Kaur, “We will send the names of the candidates who are interested in improving their performance in PSA to the board online before November 15.”principal of BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar.
