CBSE discontinues Moderation Policy: Students expecting dip in marks!

CBSE discontinues Moderation Policy: Students expecting dip in marks! Results year 2017.

The Central Board of Secondary Education CBSE has declared that there would be no moderation of marks. Last week, the CBSE had scrapped the Moderation Policy under which grace marks were given to the students in exams in case of difficult questions.

The students seem to be under strain as they are expecting a dip in the marks at result time.

The stress levels seem to shoot up as every mark counts for the cut-off lists for colleges. This announcement has made the students of the CBSE board very tensed.

This major decision for restricting this practice of moderation of marks had started from 2016. On December 2016, CBSE had requested MHRD to develop a consensus on completely removing the marks moderation policy which always led to rise of marks in board exam results.  Finally, this led to the discontinuation of moderation policy. Students, who were affected by this, were those who had a tough examiner and bothered those who had a difficult set of question paper.

Hence, the board has adopted ‘No More Moderation’, which will affect the cut-off marks for admissions. However, it is believed that the grace marks will continue for cases where few marks are required to qualify. Students have taken up the matter to Change.org filing a petition for changing the moderation policy from 2018, not 2017.
