The British Council has announced the single largest number of Scholarships ever launched in India in a single year. With the vision of fulfilling the ambitions of young and skilled Indians to study in the U.K., the Council has offered 370 scholarships that are collectively valued at approximately 1 million pounds or INR 100 million.
As per the announcement, the scholarships will be offered for 260 undergraduate and postgraduate programs ranging from law, business and art to engineering, IT, and biosciences. At least 36 institutions based out of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales are going to partake in this scholarship program.
All British Council Scholarships are tenable for September 2014 and January 2015 intakes. The British Council has also made available the GREAT Career Guide that sports several articles about popular subjects that most Indian students usually study in the U.K. as well as the corresponding opportunities available thereafter.
Having made its debut in February 2012, GREAT has fast emerged as a top quality strategic international marketing program designed to promote the U.K. to tourism, business, and student markets across the world.
We want India’s brightest and best students to come and study at our universities in the UK. We offer excellent education, including four of the world’s top six universities; a vibrant and stimulating place to live and study; and great value for money,” said Andrew Soper, Counsellor (Prosperity), British High Commission, New Delhi.
“There are no limits on the numbers who can come and you can stay on to work in the UK after your study in a graduate level job. Indeed a UK degree is rightly seen as a stepping stone to a great career, valued by employers all around the world. So our message is simple: if you are one of India’s brightest and best, we hope to welcome you to study in the UK soon: it could be the best decision you ever make.”
