15 Points for GATE 2018 exam you cannot ignore

 

On 14th August, IIT Guwahati released a GATE 2018 Notification. GATE 2018 is being organized by IIT Guwahati.

 

The tentative exam dates are 3rd, 4th, 10th, and 11th of February; however, the official schedule is still due.

The application forms will be available from 1st September through GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS). The last date for applying is 5th October. The Admit card for the exam will be available from 5th January 2018 to 11th February 2018.
 
IIT Guwahati introduced some new guidelines and updated a few of the previous ones.

New updates for GATE 2018 are

 

  1. All the students in their final year must submit a certificate from the Institute or the Head of the Department.
  2.  

  3. Students from AMIE need to upload a copy of their mark sheets for AIME’s section A. The signature and the seal of the Head of the Department is mandatory on the certificate, with the current date.
  4.  

  5. Students who graduated in 2017 can upload their final semester’s marks sheet.
  6.  

  7. The application fees now can only be paid using Debit/Credit cards or net banking.
  8.  

  9. Students with their GATE exam center at Dubai or Singapore have to pay USD 100 instead of USD 50, which is the fee for the international students.
  10.  

  11. The number of exam centers has been increased from 196 last year to 199 this year. The students can change their choice of examination city before 17th November through GOAPS.
  12.  

  13. The exam will be conducted in two sessions – forenoon and afternoon.
  14.  

  15. While filling out the application form, students have to select three exam centers, out of which two must be in the same IIT zone.
  16.  

  17. The result of the exam will be declared on 17th March 2018.
  18.  

  19. The scorecard will be available from 20th March 2018.
  20.  

  21. Students will be able to download the scorecard till 31st May. Any later than that will require an amount of Rs. 500 through GOAPS.

  23. All the students need to upload their photograph, signature, and category certificate (if applicable), with eligibility proof, along with the application form.
  24.  

  25. The test system will now have a virtual calculator. Students will be able to practice on the GATE 2018 virtual calculator from November 2017.
  26.  

  27. There is no common counseling for GATE. Students need to apply to all the colleges individually.
  28.  

  29. The GATE score is valid for admission to M.Tech or ME courses for 3 years from the date of the announcement of results. However, all the PSU have a different approach towards it. Students must check out the guidelines of the PSU they are applying to.
