World’s Top Colleges to design syllabi of higher education institutions in India
The Union Minister Smriti Irani at the launch of 10 new projects said that experts from the world’s leading universities will be designing the syllabuses of institutions imparting higher education in India.
Ten new projects have been launched under the Rashtriya Ucchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) and experts from these leading universities namely University of Edinburgh, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge University, University of Pennsylvania, University of California Berkeley, University of Washington and University of Georgia Tech. etc have been roped in to upgrade the curriculum of the subjects like science, mathematics, social science and engineering.
The Indian government has joined hands with some global academic experts and institutions who shall help states internationalise their curriculum in order to benefit students, under RUSA, a mission for national higher education in India.
The Minister has already launched several projects and also interacted with students via teleconferencing.
In addition, she has announced a competition under which students have been invited to design a logo with acronym related to aspiration of students. The winner will be awarded a free study tour to a foreign country. The logo will be announced on August 15.
The HRD ministry has also asked institutions to provide counselors to deal with stress.
Also, the process of dealing with grievances related to fellowships has been made faster from 175 days to 28 days.
