CBSE extends date for choosing Online AIEEE examination date till 15th February, 2012

All India Engineering Entrance Examination

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has extended the deadline for choosing online AIEEE examination date till 15th February, 2012

As per the earlier announcement made by CBSE the deadline mentioned was 07th February, 2012, 8 more days are provided for students to choose their choice of date

However the AIEEE 2012 test giving dates remain the same, i.e 7th May, 2012, 12th May, 2012, 19th May, 2012 and 26th May, 2012

Common Engineering Entrance Exam will have elements of IIT JEE also

It seems the IITs have agreed to join the HRD Ministry’s  bid to have a national common engineering entrance examination for all engineering colleges in the country. This only happened after there was an agreement that several elements of IIT-JEE will be part of the new All India common examination for Engineering Admissions, reports HT

The report is that the Ministry of HRD will soon call a meeting of Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) Council to stamp a decision to merge the IIT-Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) and All India Engineering Entrance Exam (AIEEE) conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education.

The first common engineering entrance examination scheduled to start in 2013 will probably cover only centrally- funded technical institutions in its first year.i.e., the IITs  (Indian Institutes of Technology ..approx 15 in number), 30 NITs (National Institutes of Technology), Four IIITs (Indian Institutes of Information Technology), IISERs (Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research) and a few deemed universities will fall under its ambit, Reports Mail Online india

Ragging accused sent to judicial custody

Shimla, Aug 5 (IANS) Three students of an engineering college in Himachal Pradesh arrested for ragging newcomers were sent to judicial custody for three days by a local court, police said.

The three students of National Institute of Technology in Hamirpur, were arrested for ragging eight first-year students in the hostel, Superintendent of Police Kuldeep Sharma told IANS.

He said the accused were in first year as they failed in last year’s examination. The case was registered Wednesday evening on the complaint of the institute’s registrar.

10 to 15 percent engineering seats increased in Maharashtra this year

In the academic year 2011-12, the directorate of technical education is getting very small increase in the number of engineering seats.

The test is going to take place on May 12, as per the notice issued by the state government. The directorate of medical education and research (DMER) is the competent authority for the test and it will be in charge for ensuing pharmacy seats.

S K Mahajan, director technical education said, that last year the total number of seats available for the students for engineering colleges was 1.12 lakh and for pharmacy it was over 35,500. We expect not more than 10 to 15 per cent increase in the intake for the coming year.

Over 1.13 Girls Taking IIT JEE in 2011

This year, the number of girl candidates is appearing more for the IIT Joint Entrance Examination (IIT JEE) exam which is going to be conducted by IIT- Kanpur in 2011.

1.13 lakh girl candidates are going to appear in the exam next year out of 4.85 lakh candidates. If we see the last years result, the number of girl aspirants were only 24 percent, which is now 28 percent. The report has given by IIT-K Director Govind Dhande.

National Engineering Common Entrance Test (CET) after consulting states, Says  Sibal

Union HRD Minister Kapil Sibal today said all the State Governments would be taken into confidence before deciding on the proposal for a Common Entrance Test (CET) for Engineering Courses.

In his reply to Chief Minister M Karunanidhi’s January three letter, Mr Sibal assured no proposal for a CET for engineering courses would be finalised without consulting the state governments.

AIEEE Engg. Entrance Exam goes online from Next Year

AIEEE 2011 on April 24, 2011
As per CBSE Release, One lakh candidates will be allowed to take the exam online on first-come-first-served basis in 20 cities with a capacity of 5,000 per city.  After the Common Admission Test, the All-India Engineering/Architecture Entrance Examination ( AIEEE) will go online from next year.

IIT JEE 2011 Pattern to remain unchanged

IIT aspirants are relieved following the decision to keep the IIT-JEE exam pattern unchanged for the next academic year. The IIT-JEE reforms committee appointed by the union ministry of human resource development had recommended 70 per cent weightage for Class XII (Intermediate) marks in the JEE.
