CBSE Class X Results 2011 for Chennai Region today

May 31st, 2011

The wait for CBSE Class X Results for Chennai region seems to be over as the CBSE Results website indicates that the results will be announced today.

Class X Results for Other Regions are expected to be announced in the next few days (hopefully all may be released within this week).

TOI Reports that Officials at CBSE admit that announcement of results has been delayed, but do not want to comment over the issue. Off the record they put the blame on introduction of Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) this year. “Preparation of results is more tedious than ever before. This may be gauged from the fact that every student’s result is spread across four sheets. Then results for students who have taken the board exams is being prepared simultaneously,” said one of them. Another officer attributed the delay to the All India Engineering Entrance Examination paper leak.

Parents want changes in grading system for HSSC exam

As the final examination for the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) started on March 7, the parents are asking for modifications of grading system for this academic year. They have suggested that final marks at the time of declaring the results should be higher of the two obtained by the candidate namely internal assessment (20 per cent) plus board performance (80 per cent) or board performance (100 per cent).

Education Minister Atanasio Monserratte said to a parent that he will add some positive approach towards the objection. “We had met him earlier in June 2010. Again we have made to him a representation in the last week of January, where he assured us that he will do something positive but nothing has come so far,” a lady parent said.

CBSE CCE system good or Bad, Hate it or Like it, Kya ?

May 4th, 2010

CBSE CCE good or Bad, Hate it or Like it, Kya ?

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had  introduced grading system and the board has  started continuous and comprehensive evaluation (CCE) system from October, under which students would not only be graded in five subjects but they would also be assessed keeping their holistic development in mind.
CCE, or Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation as the new system is called, is a pet hate word ofmany students in Class IX and Class X. These Students hate CCE for the “shackles” it has put around him – daily studies, endless projects, surprise tests and, what is worse , they can’t talk and joke loudly with friends any more.
Then there are the bright children who are unhappy with the grading system. “Now there is no difference between a student who gets 100 and 91, both get an A1. What’s the use of killing ourselves studying to become top scorers?” feels a  Class 9 student of a public school who has always been topping her class till now.

CBSE to introduce CCE System from October – TOI

October 19th, 2009

CBSE to introduce CCE System from October

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has planned to introduce grading system and the board has now started continuous and comprehensive evaluation (CCE) system from October, under which students would not only be graded in five subjects but they would also be assessed keeping their holistic development in mind. For that, teachers training programme has been started in different parts of the state.

According to information, there would be two sections- academics, and co-scholastic section, under which a student would be graded on life skills, including thinking, social and emotional skills, attitudes and values.

Under attitudes and values, a student’s behaviour with his or her teachers, schoolmates, school programmes, the environment and his or her values will be assessed and graded.

Thinking skills entail a student’s capability in creative and critical thinking, with social skills including his interpersonal communication, empathy and emotional skills to be gauged for assessing his ability to deal with stress and emotions.

School heads feel this is a praiseworthy step. Talking about it, Gurshaminder Singh, principal of Partap Public School, said, “We have started adopting the education pattern of foreign countries. And it would give a ray of hope to all students- if a student is not performing well in academics but is doing well when it comes to dealing with his classmates and teachers, he is well on his way to becoming a good human being. Red marks on the report would not be part of the education system. We would prepare students for future in a better way.”
