All the undergraduate seats for the 2017-18 in the top 10 engineering colleges of Bengaluru have been taken. Out of the 55,088 seats in the 200+ engineering colleges, 38,700 students opted the seats in the first round of Common Entrance Test (CET) counseling. About 11,450 students confirmed their admission in the undergraduate courses in the top 10 colleges.
These top 10 colleges include RV College of Engineering, BMS College of Engineering, Bangalore Institute of Technology, PES Institute of Technology, MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Dayanand Sagar College of Engineering, Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering, University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering, SDM College of Engineering, and Dayanand Sagar College of Engineering.
Out of the top 10 colleges, only the University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering (UVCE) is a government college. The top 50 rank holders of the CET 2017 have taken up seats at the RV College of Engineering.
The officials at the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) believe that students who have got admission in these courses are not waiting for any result. They have got good rank in engineering and will pursue engineering courses.
These colleges are preferred for their placement cells.
The principal of MSRIT, Dr. NVR Naidu, said that the placement in their college is excellent. Their infrastructure is among the best. Teachers are continuously upgrading their knowledge and this attracts the students to take admission here.
According to the principal of BMS College of Engineering, Prof K Mallikarjun Babu, there are no seats left for the second round of counseling.
The option entry for the second round will begin on 14th July and declaration of the allotted seats will be on 17th July.
