Planning to Practice Law in India, Sit for Entrance Test in December

Law Graduates planning to take up  Law as a Career will have to appear in the Entrance Test which is now mandatory for practicing law in India.

The Bar Council of India (BCI) has issued an ordinance making it mandatory for aspiring lawyers to undergo an entrance  exam before actually practicing it.

The Supreme Court on Friday recorded an undertaking by the Bar Council of India (BCI) that it proposed to conduct its mandatory entrance test for law graduates in December, only after which they would be allowed to practice.

As of now,  for getting registered as a lawyer, an aspirant has to have a law degree from a recognized university or a law institute, after which, the respective state bar councils affiliated to the BCI grant the license to practice.
