NCHMCT to design School level hospitality courses for CBSE

National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology (NCHMCT), the nodal agency for hospitality education under MoT, will sign an MoU with Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on July 20, 2010 in Delhi. As an expert body, NCHMCT will develop the educational modules for the courses and also help to create necessary infrastructure in selected schools.

The subjects which are expected to be introduced at the higher secondary level are food production and food and beverage service.  MoT will extend financial help of Rs 25 lakh each for schools identified by CBSE to develop required infrastructure for the courses. At the initial stage, these courses are expected to be introduced in selected Kendriya Vidyalayas and Navodaya Vidyalayas.

According to official sources in NCHMCT, the nearest IHM to the school will function as a ‘mentor institute’, which will offer required guidance to the schools.
