MBBS colleges to start from 1st August

 

MBBS colleges session 2017-2018 begins 1st August

 
All the MBBS colleges will start the 2017-2018 academic sessions from 1st August. After the Madras High Court put a stay on the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) 2017, the schedule was delayed by 20 days. The results were announced on 23rd June.
 
The government and the states, after the order of Supreme Court, have to finish the admission process so that the academic session starts on 1st August.
 
Counseling Schedule:
 

  • The first round of counseling for the all Indian central quota seats in the state government medical college began on 3rd July and will end on 15th July.
  •  

  • The second round for central counseling will commence from 1st to 7th August.
  •  

  • From 16th July to 24th July, counseling for seats to be allotted by the state government for the colleges will be held.
  •  

  • The second counseling for state seats will commence from 8th to 10th August.
  •  

  • The state level counseling will begin even before the last joining date (22nd July) of the students who have been allotted seats after the central counseling. For the first time this year, there will be overlaps in admission schedules.
  •  

  • Students who have been allotted seats after the second round of counseling for central and state seats, the last date for joining is 16th August and 25th August respectively.
  •  

  • If there any vacancies due to any reason, students can be admitted by the college till 31st August.

 
Director General of Health Services under the Health Ministry will be conducting the central counseling. The institutions that will be conducting counseling have already been designated by the state government. There are total 65,170 MBBS seats.
 
For the first time Ministry has allowed state level counselling to start even before the expiry of the last date given to students to join courses allotted during first round of central pool counselling.
 
Apart from these two rounds, a mop up round will be conducted to fill up the vacant seats in all the deemed, central universities in the country. This mop up round will take place between 18th August and 27th August. The vacant central seats will be transferred to the state. The state will be commencing another mop up counseling from 26th to 28th August.
