Indian Hockey Team without salary – All is not Well here

Indian hockey has commenced its year of reckoning by hitting a tumultuous period straight away. Indian hockey players are up in arms over non-payment of dues and bonus by Hockey India. They skipped Friday morning’s practice.

Having made public their annoyance at the delay in payment, some senior players had written a letter to Hockey India President A K Mattoo, demanding that money be paid within seven days.

The players said that on previous occasions they were paid money in advance but this time the fee has not been paid even after the conclusion of the tournament.

p>Indian hockey has failed to make the mark. To think that Indian hockey, which was ruling supreme among hockey – playing countries of the world has been unable to qualify for the 2008 Beijing Olympics is really a national shame, which has no parallel in the history of India’s sports. The entire sports-loving community in India is expressing its agony and disappointment.

The failure to qualify for the Olympic Games for the first time in eight decades is the story of the decline and fall of Indian hockey. Historically, no other hockey-playing country can rival India: eight gold, one silver, and two bronze medals in 18 successive appearances since 1928. Six of the eight golds came without a break in Olympic Games held between 1928 and 1956. It is just because of the people managing the show. Actually the administators want to make money out of it. Using the Grants for their own selfish purpose.

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who played a motivating hockey coach in Chak De! India, has now expressed solidarity with the country’s hockey team that boycotted a training camp in Pune over non-payment of sponsorship money and match fees.

"(I) feel awful for the Indian hockey team. To play for the country…(the) national sport and (they) have to ask for salary. And (then) we complain (that) we don’t win gold," Shah Rukh has posted on popular social networking site Twitter.

Disgusting….if Hockey India president mr Matoo was not aware of players condition [ as reported in TOI ], he has no right to be in that position…
why people in such position who are responsible for the organisation they head are not made accountable ?

Indian hockey is our national game but today cricket is treated as our countries game. It is very shame for us that our national game and its players are treated like this that they dont get even their pay. But if this same thing happen with cricket players then at this time they have got their money but its hockey………. who cares about it right…..media has great fault for this they are just promoting cricket but not hockey their is not any channel where we watch matches of hockey… only due to this reason nobody knows about hockey even Indian hockey .
but every third person knows about not only Indian cricket but also about other countries cricketer .
if this attitude about hockey is not changed then our future generation says that cricket is our national game not hockey
so firstly govt.and media come out of their lethargic state about hockey and must promote hockey and its players.
    MUST GIVE THEM THEIR MONEY./………….

It is said that all work and no play makes jack a dull boy….but we indians always prove to be different . In India only work and no play makes bharat a bright boy….right…a game is a game be it hockey, cricket or tennis…..even flying a kite requires talent and playing hockey is definetely requires great skill…any person haVING TALENT SHOULD BE RESPECTED ESPECIALLY THE ONES WHO ARE PLAYING FOR THEIR MOTHERLAND!!!! But in India a talented person is never been given his proper due….the present situation in the hockey team just proves it…..it’s high time we wake up and start respecting our sports and people associated with it especially players…it’s good they are fifhting for their cause…it defines their team spirit and we can help them by supporting, promoting and encouraging them…the government should realise this and if doesn’t India will no longer known in the International scenario for Sports….
