CBSE extends date for choosing Online AIEEE examination date till 15th February, 2012

All India Engineering Entrance Examination

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has extended the deadline for choosing online AIEEE examination date till 15th February, 2012

As per the earlier announcement made by CBSE the deadline mentioned was 07th February, 2012, 8 more days are provided for students to choose their choice of date

However the AIEEE 2012 test giving dates remain the same, i.e 7th May, 2012, 12th May, 2012, 19th May, 2012 and 26th May, 2012

The first common engineering entrance examination scheduled to start in 2013 will probably cover only centrally- funded technical institutions in its first year.i.e., the IITs  (Indian Institutes of Technology ..approx 15 in number), 30 NITs (National Institutes of Technology), Four IIITs (Indian Institutes of Information Technology), IISERs (Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research) and a few deemed universities will fall under its ambit, Reports Mail Online india

Anna University prepones TANCET 2012 Exams by two months

The Anna University advances the Tamilnadu Common Entrance Test 2012 (TANCET 2012)  exams by two months in March, following requests from students that the dates clash with other entrance exam dates, reports IBN Live.

AICTE extends CMAT 2012 Application Deadline to January 22, 2012
All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has extended the application deadline  to 22 January 2012 to apply for the  Common Management Admission Test CMAT 2012

CMAT will be held during the period Monday, 20 February 2012 – Tuesday, 28 February 2012 across 61 cities in India.

CMAT will be a computer-based test (CBT). A candidate will read the questions on a computer terminal and choose an answer by clicking on the correct option.

In a recent statement from CBSE, it is clear that The much hyped National Entrance cum Eligibility Test (NEET UG) for MBBS Admission will not happen in 2012.CBSE to continue holding AIPMT for 15 percent Seats Check out CBSE AIPMT 2012 Notification and Dates

The Statement says , “As per communication received from Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India regarding seeking permission from the Hon’ble Supreme Court to allow introduction of NEET for Under Graduate Medical Courses from the academic year 2013-14 instead of 2012-13, the Central Board of Secondary Education would now conduct the All India Pre-Medical/ Pre-Dental Entrance Examination only for the 15% all India quota seats” Read more…

Supreme Court rejects CBSE’s proposal for merging AIEEE & AIPMT Exam

The Supreme Court on Friday  rejected the  Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) proposal of merging the All India Pre medical Test (AIPMT ) and All India Engineering Entrance Examination AIEEE into a single entrance test for admissions to undergraduate medical and engineering courses in the country, reports the Times of India

A bench of Justices R V Raveendran and A K Patnaik, which entertained the CBSE’s proposal dismissed the Board’s plea saying there was no unanimity.
While the All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Examination (AIPMT) is conducted to fill 15% seats in MBBS/BDS courses in government medical and dental colleges against the all-India quota, the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) is for drawing up a combined merit list for a different category of engineering colleges. CBSE conducts both AIPMT and AIEEE every year.

Online AIEEE Trial Run on 2011 was a Success, in 2012 CBSE will conduct in 22 Centres from May 7 to 25., reports PTI

CBSE has decided to conduct the exam in this format next year in 22 identified cities from May 7 to 25.

Examinations in 65 other centres including a few in abroad will, however, be held on the pen and paper format on April 29, said a CBSE official.

“Examinees who will appear in online examination will be given a concession of Rs 150 to Rs 300 in examination fees,” the official said.

MCI notification  on MCI website Says - NEET-PG: The common entrance test (CET) for admission to Medical Post-graduate Courses across the country i.e. National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for Medical Postgraduate Courses – MD/MS/Diploma (NEET-PG ) shall be held in Jan-Feb 2012 for admissions in the academic year 2012-2013.

Priority admission for girls in Himachal

Shimla,  The single girl child will be given admission on priority basis in government-run schools and colleges in Himachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said Thursday.

“To empower women, we will give priority to a single girl child in educational institutions,” Dhumal said at a public meeting in Neri village in Hamirpur district.

He said the government was making efforts to provide quality education to students in the state.
