CAT 2017 last date for registration September 20, admits cards on October 18

The registration for Common Admission Test (CAT) 2017 began on 9th August. CAT is the entrance test for admission to the Business school like the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) and about 100 other top B-Schools in the country. The registration will end on 20th September.
 
 
IIM Lucknow will be conducting the test this year. Convener of CAT 2017, Professor Neeraj Dwivedi, said that candidates have enough time (40 days) for registration. There is no need for registering on the first day. He also added that all the candidates must read all the instructions and get their documents ready before applying.
 
 

  • Admit cards will be available for download from 18th October.

  • The CAT website www.iimcat.ac.in has several frequently asked questions (FAQ) related to CAT 2017.

  • Candidates can also ask their query over email or phone.

CAT 2017 will be conducted in two sessions this year on 26th November. There are approximately 140 test centers over the country. Candidates can fill four cities in their preference order. However, sessions will be assigned randomly. Test cities and centers will be assigned after the last date of registration. According to Professor Dwivedi, a candidate is usually assigned a city from one of their preference. In a very rare case, a candidate has been assigned an alternate city, different from his/her preferred choices.

The fee is to be paid online using net banking, credit cards or debit cards.
 
 
Here are a few points about the test:

  • The test will be of 180 minutes, divided into three sections. Section I will be reading comprehension and verbal ability, while Section II will have logical reasoning and data interpretation ad section II will have the quantitative ability. Students will not be allowed to switch between sections.
  •  

  • Some questions are objective while some need to be typed online. Also, an on-screen calculator will be provided.
  •  

  • A tutorial will be uploaded on the CAT website on 18th October that will help the candidates get familiar with the format of the exam.
